LUCENA CITY, Quezon—As part of its flood mitigation efforts during the rainy season, the local government of Taytay, Rizal has intensified dredging and desilting operations in creeks and rivers across the municipality.
The Municipal Public Information Office (PIO) reported on Monday, June 1, that the Municipal Engineering Office–Flood Control Section has stepped up the cleanup of waterways in various parts of the town in preparation for the onset of the rainy season.
Personnel recently conducted clearing operations at Peace Be With You Creek and Leviticus Creek in Barangay San Juan, removing assorted garbage and other obstructions that could trigger flooding during heavy rains, the PIO said.
The local government urged residents to cooperate in keeping the environment clean and to refrain from dumping garbage into drainage canals, esteros and rivers to help prevent flooding and protect natural waterways.
