The Ernakulam Rural police arrested two migrant workers, reportedly with 12 kilograms of suspected ganja under Operation Toofan, the State government’s anti-drug campaign.The arrested are Rafiyul Mandal, 21, and Parvesh Mandal, 19, both residents of Murshidabad in West Bengal. They were nabbed in a joint operation by the Ernakulam Rural District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force and the Angamaly police.The accused allegedly procured the suspected ganja from Odisha. They travelled by hopping between two trains from Bengal to Chennai and then to Angamaly. They were detained at the Angamaly railway station on a tip-off received by District Police Chief (Ernakulam Rural) K.S. Sudarshan. Packets of suspected ganja were found concealed in two shoulder bags. The accused reportedly used to purchase suspected ganja from Odisha at ₹3,000 per kilogram and sell it here for many times that price. Published - June 02, 2026 09:38 pm IST
