A 43-year-old chain snatcher, involved in over 180 cases, was arrested by the Special Crime Team of the Central Crime Station (CCS) in coordination with Saifabad police on Tuesday.The accused, identified as Mohammed Faisal Shah Ali Jabri, also known by the aliases Abdullah, Sohail and Altaf, is a resident of Murad Nagar in Asif Nagar. Police said he was absconding for several years and was wanted in Hyderabad and other parts of the State.According to the police, the accused was involved in a spate of gold chain-snatching offences reported in 2023 under the limits of Saifabad, Moghalpura, Charminar and Nampally police stations. After committing the offences, he fled Hyderabad and took shelter in Bengaluru.Police said he later moved to Rayachoti in Andhra Pradesh, where he was involved in three more chain-snatching offences under the limits of Rayachoti and Chennur police stations.Fourteen non-bailable warrants are also pending against him.Further investigation is under way.
