Andhra Pradesh Airport Development Corporation has invited bids for development of a Greenfield airport at Dagadarthi (Nellore).The proposed airport site is located 30 km away from Nellore along the Chennai-Kolkata Corridor (NH16) to be developed under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode with an investment of ₹648 cr. The airport is designed to support operations of Airbus A320/A321.The prospective bidders should have a minimum net worth of ₹500 crore with an experience of over 10 years in infrastructure works worth ₹1300 crore. In addition, experience in airport operations and management with a consortium of up to 6 members are also required, according to a notification issued by the corporation in association with AP Economic Development Board (EDB). The last date for submission of bids is June 12, 2026.The project has already received in-principle clearance from the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), Government of India. The State Cabinet had approved the airport project in January clearing the decks for Dagadarthi to l become Andhra Pradesh’s 8th airport.Strategically located, the Dagadarthi airport enjoys excellent connectivity to National Highway corridors, two major ports—Krishnapatnam Port and Ramayapatnam Port—and multiple industrial clusters, including KRIS City and IFFCO SEZs. The locational advantage positions the airport as a critical enabler for manufacturing, exports, agri-logistics, and services-led growth in southern Andhra Pradesh.Published on June 2, 2026
