A video showing multiple Toronto police officers tackling and arresting a cyclist during a “stop-sign enforcement” in downtown Toronto has sparked heated reactions online, with one local cycling advocate calling it an “excessive use of force.”

The nearly minute-long clip, shared on X on Monday by cycling advocate and lawyer David Shellnutt, also known as the “Biking Lawyer,” shows the perspective of another cyclist as they rode along a bike lane on Queens Quay West. As the cyclist approaches the stop sign at Little Norway Crescent, three police officers can be seen standing by a stop sign along the curb.
