P. Nadda seeking his intervention in amending admission guidelines followed by the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research for MBBS courses.A total of 64 MBBS seats at Jipmer are earmarked for local students under the Puducherry Domicile Internal Quota. As of now, the seats are filled by treating both “Origin” ( native residents) and “Migrant” certificate holders on an identical footing. Such considerations deprive “sons of the soil” the opportunity for admission to Jipmer, the memorandum said.“Hence, we request the Health Ministry to issue a direction to Jipmer authorities for earmarking the 64 seats strictly and exclusively for “Origin” students as per definitions laid out in the government notifications issued in 1964 and 2001,” the memorandum said.
