The Chief Educational Officer (CEO) in Tiruppur on Tuesday (June 2, 2206) visited the Nanjappa Municipal Boys Higher Secondary School in Tiruppur City, days after a video clip circulating on social media platforms depicted a teacher receiving money from students being admitted into higher secondary classes.The video indicates that waiting students are called by their names and handing over ₹250 to the teacher.CEO Punitha Anthoniammal who visited the school for an inquiry on Tuesday had reportedly learnt from the school authorities that the amount was collected under the heads ‘PTA Fund’ and ‘Exam Fee’ as has been the practice in all government schools.According to sources in School Education Department, ₹50 is collected from every student towards PTA Fund, and ₹200 per student to meet expenditure incurred for printing of question papers and answer sheets for the term and final exams.
