MANILA, Philippines — House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” G. Dy III on Tuesday welcomed the committee-level approval of a consolidated measure seeking to establish a nationwide Integrated Emergency Medical Services System (EMSS), saying the proposal aims to ensure that emergency calls are met with fast, efficient, and quality response.

“Many Filipinos are already familiar with 911. But the more important question is: when someone calls 911, can they expect a fast, organized, and high-quality response? That is what this measure seeks to ensure. We are not merely creating a hotline but an integrated emergency medical services system that can save many lives,” Dy said.

The House Committee on Health approved on Monday, subject to style and amendments, the consolidation of nine bills proposing the institutionalization of an EMSS.
