A man who fatally shot Toronto high‑rise construction worker Shamar Powell-Flowers during a late‑night altercation near Danforth Avenue was sentenced Monday to seven years in prison, prompting the victim’s family to storm out of court in anger.
On the eve of standing trial for second-degree murder last month, Mohamud Farah, now 37, pleaded guilty to manslaughter, admitting he fired the weapon during the melee on Carlaw Avenue, south of Danforth, early July 23, 2023, according to an agreed statement of facts.
