Police have identified the woman whose body was recovered from the sea near the Olympic Hopes beach area close to Nessebar on May 31. Authorities confirmed that the deceased is a 69-year-old Russian citizen who had been residing in an apartment in the nearby village of Ravda.
The identification was carried out following subsequent police procedures after the discovery of the body. Law enforcement officials said work is ongoing to clarify the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
The body was initially reported to the Nessebar police at around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, after a woman was spotted in the water. Emergency teams later recovered the lifeless body from the sea.
According to early findings, there were no visible signs of violence on the body. Investigators also reported that personal belongings, including a bag containing summer clothing and flip-flops, were found on the beach close to the location where the body was discovered, suggesting they may have belonged to the deceased.
The body was transported to the Forensic Medicine Department at the University Hospital in Burgas for an autopsy. A formal investigation has been opened, and authorities continue to examine both the identity confirmation process and the possible cause of death.
