OTTAWA — Despite the Carney Liberals’ framing of artificial intelligence as key to Canada’s economic prosperity, a government office intended to drive AI adoption across the federal public service has yet to be created — nearly seven months after it was announced.

The Office for Digital Transformation was touted last fall in Prime Minister Mark Carney’s 2025 budget, and was billed as a “generational opportunity for domestic innovators” to “proactively identify, implement, and scale technology solutions across the federal government.”
