The MSI Cubi NUC WCG is a mini PC with a compact design, but support for up to three displays, dual Ethernet ports, and user-replaceable memory and storage.Powered by an Intel Wildcat Lake processor, the little computer will likely be positioned as a cheaper alternative to the Panther Lake-powered Cubi NUC AI+ 3MG that launched earlier this year. But it still has some premium features like a Thunderbolt 4 port and support for 2.5 GbE wired networking.MSI’s announcement is a little light on details, but the company is showing off the Cubi NUC WCG at Computex in Taiwan this week, where the folks at TechPowerUp got a look at the mini PC and report that it will support up to an Intel Core 7 360 processor, come in black and white color options, and feature a set of ports that includes:2 x HDMI1 x USB4 Type-C (40 Gbps with DisplayPort Alt Mode)1 x 2.5 GbE LAN1 x Gigabit LANIt’s also said to support user-replaceable DDR5 SODIMM memory. But it’s worth keeping in mind that one of the key differences between Wildcat Lake and Panther Lake chips is that Wildcat Lake only supports up to 64GB of single-channel memory, so it’s likely that this mini PC will only have a single SODIMM slot.Other things to note are that even higher-performance Wildcat Lake processors like the Core 7 360 are designed to be cost-effective and energy efficient. So that chip only features two Performance CPU cores, four Low-Power Efficiency cores, dual-core Intel Graphics, and an NPU with up to 17 TOPS of AI performance. That should all be plenty for basic computing tasks, and they’re a nice upgrade over what you’d get from an Intel Twin Lake processor (which features 12th-gen Intel Core Efficiency cores and no Performance cores). But if you were looking for a gaming, graphics, or AI machine, this might not be the best fit.
