Following the announcement by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he had ordered strikes on targets in the Dahiyeh suburbs of Beirut, the senior spokesperson for the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic warned that the continuation of Israeli attacks on Lebanon "will not be tolerated" by Tehran.
Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi, the senior spokesperson for the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic, accused Israel of "abusing the ceasefire opportunity" and committing "blatant aggression against Lebanese territory." He claimed that Israeli attacks have so far left more than 3,000 dead, including women and children.
He also accused Western countries of adopting a policy of "silence or support" in the face of these attacks.
Addressing Israeli officials and their supporters, Shekarchi added: "The continuation of brutal crimes against Lebanon will not be tolerated by the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran."
These remarks were made after Netanyahu announced that he had instructed the Israeli military to target sites in Beirut's southern suburbs of Dahiyeh, a region considered one of the primary strongholds of Lebanese Hezbollah.
