Simultaneously with the intensification of Israel's military attacks on Lebanon, officials of the Islamic Republic re-emphasized that any ceasefire between Iran and the United States must encompass all fronts of the conflict, particularly Lebanon, and warned that the continuation of attacks on the country could carry severe consequences.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Monday, June 1, that he had instructed the country's military to target Hezbollah-affiliated sites in Dahiyeh, the southern suburbs of Beirut. In a video message, he stated: "There will be no situation in which Hezbollah targets our cities and citizens while its terrorist headquarters in Beirut's Dahiyeh remain immune from attack."
The Israeli Prime Minister's Office said in a statement that Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz had instructed the military to strike "terrorist targets" in the southern suburbs of Beirut, following what they termed "repeated ceasefire violations by Hezbollah" and "attacks against Israeli cities and citizens."
Netanyahu also noted that the Israeli military's ground operations in Lebanon were expanding. Israel has established a security zone in southern Lebanon, asserting that its objective is to prevent Hezbollah attacks on the northern regions of the country.
