Brian McLaren, in his 90s, increasingly frail and with failing vision, complained that nobody helped when he pressed his rest home call bell.

He said that “the carer would come in, turn it off and say she'd be back in five minutes, only often she never returned”, says Chris McLaren, Brian’s daughter.
