Last year’s Asus ROG Xbox Ally X was already a pretty impressive handheld gaming PC, with a 6 inch, 1920 x 1080 pixel, 120 Hz IPS LCD display, an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor, and 24GB of RAM.But the new ROG Xbox Ally X20 Bundle kicks things up a notch thanks to an improved 7.4 inch OLED display. And if that doesn’t provide enough screen space for you, the bundle also includes a pair of ROG XREAL R1 augmented reality glasses that Asus provides the equivalent of a 171 inch display viewed from 4 meters (about 13 feet) away.Asus hasn’t announced pricing for the bundle yet, but given that the original Xbox ROG Ally X sells for $1000 and the ROG XREAL R1 glasses are priced at $850, it seems reasonable to expect a price tag in the $1500 – $2000 range.Under the hood, the new model is mostly the same as last year’s version, which means you still get an 8-core, 16-thread CPU based on AMD’s Zen 5 architecture, Radeon 890M integrated graphics with 16 RDNA 3.5 GPU compute units, 24GB of onboard LPDDR5x-8000 memory and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD.But the display panel is now an Asus Nebula HDR display with a 1920 x 1080 pixel, 120 Hz OLED screen that supports up to 1400 nits peak brightness, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, Dolby Vision, and 0.2ms response time. Asus says the handheld’s thermals have also been updated to accommodate the OLED display, which it says is more sensitive to heat than LCD.Asus has also updated the controllers with TMR joysticks, a D-Pad that can be used for 4-way or8-way movement, and face buttons that now sit flush against the chassis. The ROG XREAL R1 glasses, meanwhile, feature micro LED displays with a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, 240 Hz refresh rate and 0.01ms response time. The headset supports 3 degrees of freedom for head tracking if you want the screen to move as your head does or an anchor mode to keep the virtual display stuck in one place. They connect to the handheld (or other compatible hardware) with a single USB Type-C cable. It’s unclear if Asus has any plans to offer the Xbox ROG Ally X20 without the bundled glasses.Asus Press Release
