ASUS has unleashed a wave of new PC gaming hardware under its ROG Edition 20 lineup to mark the 20th anniversary of the ROG brand. One of the newer additions here is the Xbox ROG Ally X20 handheld. While it retains the same overall design and form factor of the existing Xbox ROG Ally X, this version introduces several notable upgrades. Head below for a closer look at what’s new.

One of the key upgrades on the new handheld is its OLED display, replacing the LCD panel found on the standard model. It’s also slightly larger at 7.4 inches, while retaining support for up to a 120Hz refresh rate and AMD FreeSync. Another standout change is the design – the Ally X20 comes with a black translucent shell accented with gold details, giving it a distinctive look straight out of the box without the need for aftermarket mods.
Under the hood, ASUS has equipped this handheld with AMD’s Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip, the same processor used in the ROG Ally X, alongside 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of PCIe 4.0 NVMe storage. ASUS also says it has improved the cooling system to push more airflow toward the APU while keeping display surface temperatures lower. The Ally X20 has TMR joysticks now, along with revised face buttons and a convertible D-pad that can switch between four-way and eight-way control.
