The Puducherry Government Nursing Officers Association has expressed concern over manpower and infrastructural inadequacies at the Yanam Government Hospital.The Association in a statement said there were multiple issues confronting the hospital in Yanam. The air-conditioning of the operation theatre was not functioning properly for a long time. The hospital lacked adequate toilets, sick room and intercom facility. In the absence of adequate manpower, nursing officers were forced to handle registration and duties related to managing the mortuary and ambulance facility. There was no proper deployment of police personnel for the protection of hospital staff. The hospital lacked proper work environment for the staff, the statement said. Service grievances of the staff were also not addressed despite being taken up with higher-ups in the Health Department.
