The Association of Young Nigerian Nurses (AYNN) has demanded the immediate inauguration of the Governing Board of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), saying thousands of graduate nurses have been left stranded by the prolonged withholding of professional certificates and licensing delays.
The group also called for the prompt issuance of all outstanding certificates to affected nurses and the resolution of licensing challenges that have disrupted employment opportunities and career progression nationwide.
The demands were contained in a statement issued on Tuesday following nationwide demonstrations organised by AYNN and other nursing advocacy groups across several states.
According to the nurses, thousands of graduates have been unable to obtain their professional certificates for more than three years due to the absence of a constituted NMCN Governing Board.
