"Yet the sorrow of rising to fight against oppressors is not a source of despair for me; rather, it is the very flow of life and the meaning of existence. In a hollow and meaningless world to which I grant meaning myself, bowing one's head to tyranny and oppression merely for the sake of survival and out of fear of death is nothing but shame."

These few lines are part of the surviving writings of Mojtaba Veisi, a Kurdish cultural and civil activist who, along with his brother Meysam Veisi, was killed during an operation by Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces in the Dalahu region in the early hours of May 28.

The news of the two brothers' deaths, following hours of sustained gunfire and the siege of Qal'eh Kahoush village in Dalahu county, rapidly spread across social media networks and news outlets, sparking widespread reactions among civil and cultural activists, as well as the Yarsan community.

According to information obtained by IranWire, around 4:00 a.m., IRGC forces surrounded a house in Qal'eh Kahoush village where the two brothers were hiding and opened fire on the building from multiple directions. Informed sources told IranWire that the operation began without any prior warning, and the intensity of the gunfire was such that Meysam and Mojtaba Veisi lost their lives in the very opening minutes.
