On Monday morning, June 1, the Vahid Online Telegram channel reported, based on messages received from citizens, that several explosions had been heard in Bandar Abbas.
According to these reports, the initial messages were published around 9:07 a.m., with citizens saying that at least three explosions were heard. Some residents of Bandar Abbas stated that the sounds of the explosions were “powerful” and could be heard from various parts of the city.
One of the published messages noted that sounds resembling the “impact of a heavy object” or explosions were heard from distant areas. A number of other citizens stated that the sounds came from the vicinity of the Bandar Abbas Air Base.
The Imam Sajjad Corps of Hormozgan claimed that the sounds of the explosions in Bandar Abbas were caused by operations to defuse unexploded wartime munitions.
