When I was in Japan, I picked up a load of things which you can't get in the UK, or stuff that would cost you a lot more money at home – and I'm so glad I made the most of it07:44, 01 Jun 2026I went to Japan and these beauty products are a must-buyJapan is known for its beauty scene, and there are so many amazing products which you can't get in the UK.‌From skincare to cute Sanrio-themed things, I picked up so many items on my holiday that I knew I'd struggle to get hold of them back home. I'd seen so many must-buys on social media before I went, sharing that Japanese stores have a vast array of things to choose from, and I was truly in shopping heaven. Plus, J-beauty is so amazing for achieving the coveted glass skin look, and it's not unaffordable by any means, so if you're planning a trip, it's worth a look!‌Rice face masks‌I'd seen rice face masks all over social media before going, and I knew that I needed to try them for myself.Japanese rice face masks are highly popular skincare treatments, most notably the best-selling Ishizawa Lab Keana Nadeshiko Rice Mask.Formulated with 100% Japanese rice-derived serums (including sake, rice bran oil, and ceramides), they deeply hydrate, plump the skin, and minimise the appearance of enlarged pores.‌I bought a tax-free pack of 10 and paid tax on 10, so I could use them when I was there. They genuinely made my skin feel so fresh, but sadly, when we travelled, they leaked, so I'd recommend buying them tax-free and bringing them back home! Your skin will thank you, and so will your luggage that doesn't get wet!I Wanna Have - A Sweet Escape perfumeI noticed randomly that Japan seems to be big on subtle vanilla flavours, rather than making overly complex scents like in the UK. As a vanilla perfume lover, this was perfect for me!‌Also I opted for this perfume, which gets 4/5 on Fragrantica, with the top noteWhite Flowers; the middle note is Vanilla; the base note is Sandalwood.Fragrantica reads: "A Sweet Escape is a floral fragrance centred around white blossoms and vanilla. The composition features delicate white florals in the top notes, with a prominent vanilla heart that provides sweetness and warmth. The base is grounded with sandalwood, adding a woody, creamy depth to the composition."FlowerKnows Bunny Garden hand mirrorI am, admittedly, a sucker for cute things, and I'm unapologetic about it. So, this meant this gorgeous hand mirror was a must-have for me. It makes doing makeup 100% more fun, and it makes me smile every single time I take it out of my makeup bag!Article continues belowThe brand also does the cutest makeup products, and I do regret not buying any to try for myself!Pompompurin plastersNot really a beauty product, more a necessity in some sad situations, but the fact you can buy plasters with Pompompurin on is so unserious, and I love it. I couldn't resist when I saw these hanging around by the till! You can also literally pick them up in a whole host of characters, so you can take your pick!
