The 140-year-old SHM Group, which is involved in shipbuilding, ship management and maritime safety services, has launched Ocean Crewzer 8 (Y-410) at its Mumbai shipyard. Built entirely with aluminium, Ocean Crewzer 8 is a 29-m high-speed passenger craft, designed to meet the requirements of waterway operations in India. Aluminium is an extensively preferred material for fast passenger vessels due to its light weight and higher fuel efficiency compared with standard steel ships. The launch of Ocean Crewzer 8 is part of the SHM Group’s continuous shipbuilding programme, which is focused on vessels catering to the rising maritime requirements of India, says a company release.Published on June 1, 2026
