CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — Residents of this city were urged to take extra precautions against extreme heat after the city recorded a heat index of 44°C at 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 31, placing it under the “danger” category.
According to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC), the heat index reading was recorded at the Calapan City Public Market monitoring station.
A heat index of 44°C falls within the danger level, where heat exhaustion is likely and heat stroke is possible, especially during prolonged exposure to the sun or strenuous outdoor activities.
