A woman has appealed to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to intensify efforts to secure the release of her daughter-in-law, four grandchildren and other victims abducted by terrorists in Oriire Local Government Area of the state.

Speaking during an emotional appeal when Makinde visited the community on Saturday, the woman pleaded with the governor to ensure the safe return of the captives, whom she said have been held since armed attackers invaded schools and communities in the area.

"Please have mercy on us. My daughter-in-law and four grandchildren are among the kidnapped victims. My daughter-in-law is the woman carrying a baby on her back, who spoke in a viral video. She is a teacher," she said.

Her daughter-in-law, Mary Akanbi, was among several teachers, pupils and residents abducted when heavily armed men recently attacked schools and communities in the Esiele and Yawota areas of Oriire Local Government Area.
