An Iranian Fateh-110 ballistic missile struck the Ali Al Salem air base in Kuwait on May 30, injuring approximately five Americans and damaging two US military drones. The attack landed just three days after White House-hosted ceasefire talks with Iran concluded on May 27 without producing an agreement.

What happened at Ali Al Salem

The missile, identified as a Fateh-110 ballistic variant launched from Iranian territory, struck the air base and caused minor injuries to the five affected Americans. The injured included both active-duty military personnel and contractors.

Beyond the human toll, the strike took out US drone capability at the base. Two MQ-9 Reaper drones were hit. One was destroyed outright, while the other sustained significant damage.

This was the third significant attack on US forces in the region in roughly three months. In March, a strike killed six US service members. In April, a drone attack on this same Ali Al Salem base injured 15 Americans. Now a ballistic missile has struck again.
