GMC has unveiled the Hummer X, a truck and SUV that the automaker has no intention of producing.

The Hummer X is a testbed for new ideas, technologies, and materials.

The concepts feature removable fenders, visible bolts, underbody protection, headlock wheels, and more.

GMC has unveiled a pair of Hummer concepts that feature new technologies, materials, and ideas. The automaker made a truck and an SUV variant designed around the ideas of sustainability and reconfigurability, which go beyond using recycled materials and offering a handful of aftermarket parts.

The Hummer X features "mono-materials." They replace adhesives with snap fits and mechanical fasteners so parts can be fully recycled, with parts designed for "easy disassembly so customers can swap, share, and recirculate parts." GMC envisions the Hummer X as part of a circular economy and community.
