Officials of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Vijayawada Branch, conducted raids on two units for allegedly manufacturing pressure cookers bearing the ISI mark without obtaining a BIS licence.Teams led by Deputy Director and Scientist-C D. Vivek Vardhan Reddy raided Ghanshyam Aluminium at Surampalli village in Krishna district and seized about 9,000 pressure cookers carrying an ISI mark that had not been authorised by BIS.Under the supervision of BIS Director and Head of the Vijayawada Branch Prem Sajani Patnala, the teams also inspected Ramdev Industries at Kabela in Vijayawada. Around 1,000 pressure cookers and components used for manufacturing cookers with counterfeit ISI markings were seized, Mr. Vivek Vardhan Reddy said.Cases have been registered against the managements of the two units under Sections 17 and 29(3) of the BIS Act, 2016, according to a release issued by the Deputy Director on Friday.
