MANILA, Philippines – Five families of the missing sabungeros (cockfighting aficionados) on Friday filed a complaint for obstruction of justice against a lawyer of fugitive businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang and three others over alleged attempts to pay off witnesses that led to them crossing over to the other side of the case.

Charlene Lasco, sister of an e-sabong master agent that went missing, filed the complaint before the Department of Justice (DOJ) against Caroline Cruz, lawyer of Ang, and three others who she alleged were in connivance to turn other families to the side of the accused.

Lasco described the three others who were also named respondents as mothers and spouses of some of the sabungeros who either disappeared or were found dead during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cruz, meanwhile, serves as executive director of Pitmaster Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of Ang-owned Lucky 8 Star Quest, Inc.
