Two people have been arrested and released on bail, reports Chronicle Live.The man has been arrested on suspicion of causing or allowing the death of a child, and the woman has been arrested on suspicion of neglect.A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "Shortly after 1.45pm yesterday (Thursday), we received a report via the ambulance service of concern for the welfare of a baby in the Gateshead area. The baby was taken to hospital but tragically died a short time later.Article continues below"Our thoughts are with their loved ones at this time. We immediately launched an investigation, and two people have been arrested in connection with the report."A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing or allowing the death of a child, and a woman has been arrested on suspicion of neglect.
