A special awareness campaign being flagged off in Mysuru on Friday, to educate residents about the benefits of solar power generation installing rooftop panels in their homes under the Prime Minister’s Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.

In an effort to boost public participation in the Prime Minister’s Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, a special awareness vehicle fitted with an LED display was flagged off in Mysuru on Friday to educate residents about the benefits of solar power generation installing rooftop panels in their homes.The awareness campaign vehicle was launched at the headquarters of the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation Limited (CESC). CESC technical director Sharannamma S. Jangin and Mysuru circle chief engineer L. Lokesh flagged off the vehicle.The campaign vehicle will travel across different parts of Mysuru city from morning till night for three days, spreading awareness about the PM Surya Ghar scheme and the subsidies available under it.On Saturday, the vehicle will cover Kuvempunagar, Vivekanandanagar, Ramakrishna Nagar Circle, Dattagalli Circle, R.R. Nagar, Sharadadevinagar, Bogadi, Vijayanagar, areas surrounding Mysuru Palace, Agrahara Circle, Pathashala Circle, K.R. Circle, Ayurveda Hospital Circle, Mandi Mohalla, Bannimantap, LIC Circle, Fountain Circle and areas around St. Philomena’s Church.On May 31, the vehicle will pass through City Bus Stand, Metropole Circle, Kalamandira, Maharani College Junction, Paduvarahalli Circle, Aishwarya Petrol Bunk Junction, Hinkal Circle, Hootagalli, Belavadi, Ilavala, areas surrounding Mysuru Palace, Suburban Bus Stand, Harding Circle, Gopalagowda Hospital Circle, Milk Dairy Circle, Siddarthanagar, Teresian College Circle, Devegowda Circle and nearby localities.According to a press release, the PM Surya Ghar scheme is designed to help households reduce electricity bills while promoting environmentally sustainable energy generation. Consumers can install rooftop solar systems by availing attractive government subsidies under the scheme.The release stated that households can also earn additional income by selling surplus electricity generated through rooftop solar systems back to CESC.Under the scheme, a subsidy of ₹30,000 is available for solar systems up to 1 kW capacity, ₹60,000 for systems up to 2 kW capacity and up to ₹78,000 for systems of 3 kW capacity and above.Officials said the scheme aims to meet household electricity requirements through rooftop solar generation.Members of the public seeking more information about the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana may contact 9448994706 or email gmproj1@cescmysore.org.Chief general manager Lingarajamma, general managers R.
