The Puducherry Electricity Department will organise a day-long camp to further popularise PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana scheme (PMSGMBY) at Kamban Kalai Arangam on Tuesday.During the camp, eligible residential consumers could obtain information on the scheme and enroll on the spot for installing Rooftop Solar PV Plants. Interested consumers should carry a copy of electricity bill for enrollment, a release said.Applications to obtain subsidy component from Puducherry government will be distributed at the camp. Consumers intending to apply for the State subsidy should carry a copy of Aadhaar card, a copy of the front page of bank passbook or a cancelled cheque.Under the PMSGMBY programme, consumers are eligible to obtain a subsidy of ₹30,000 from Central government and ₹10,00 from the Union Territory for installation of a 1 KW capacity PV plant.The Central subsidy component for installing a 2 KW capacity plant is ₹60,000 while the Union Territory provides a subsidy of ₹20,000. Consumers are entitled to get a Central subsidy of ₹78,000 for 3 KW and above capacity plant and ₹30,000 from the Union Territory, the release said.So far in the Union Territory, 3,721 consumers have commissioned solar plants in the rooftops of their dwelling units and around ₹26.96 crore has been disbursed as subsidy for the scheme, the release added.
