The friend and cousin of a 30-year-old tragically killed outside a Sheffield city centre bar said she was due to take her son to London for the Arsenal parade - but now he will grow up without her11:49, 29 May 2026An innocent mum tragically shot and killed in Sheffield had planned to take her 10-year-old son to the Arsenal victory parade this weekend, her friend and cousin revealed.‌Shanice Brookes, a 30-year-old mother-of-one, was shot near the One Four One bar in West Street shortly before 2.45am on bank holiday Monday. Detectives said she was "simply an innocent bystander" and the mum later died in hospital.‌Ms Brookes' cousin Tyler-Jay Reid and friend K-cee Cooper-Foster have shared a heartbreaking tribute to the young mother. The victim's cousin revealed the mum was due to take her son to Sunday's Arsenal parade in London - but now he will tragically grow up without his mum.‌Ms Reid, speaking to Good Morning Britain, said: "She's so selfless, she's not even a massive football fan, but she was putting it aside for her son, and she was going to take him to the Emirates. She was so excited about going and he was so excited to go down and something like that has now been ripped apart from him."The victim's cousin said she had been with Ms Brookes just hours before she was shot and revealed the mum had been out for a birthday celebration at the time. Ms Reid said: "She's been just an innocent person who's just been in the wrong place at the wrong time.‌"It could happen to anyone. Anyone's daughter, anyone's friend, anyone's family, and I would not want anyone to go through what we're going to have right now."The cousin and friend have set up a GoFundMe page to help raise money for Ms Bookes' funeral and any remaining costs will be set aside for her 10-year-old son. On the fundraiser, the pair wrote: "Shan deserves the most beautiful send off after being taken from us far too soon."‌They added: "Shanice had the biggest heart, the most infectious humour, and a beautiful soul that touched so many people. She lit up every room she walked into and was loved deeply by everyone lucky enough to know her."On Friday, South Yorkshire Police said Jemele Rhone, 30, of Outram Road, Sheffield, has been charged with murder, possession of a firearm and possession of criminal property. Deiryen Dyce, aged 32, of Ellesmere Road North, Sheffield, has been charged with assisting an offender, possession of ammunition, possession of drugs with intent to supply, possession of drugs and possession of criminal property.Both have been remanded in custody and are due to appear at Sheffield Magistrates' Court on Friday. A 30-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder in Sheffield on Monday has now been released and is no longer being treated as a suspect.Article continues belowSenior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Andy Knowles said: "Shanice was an entirely innocent bystander who should've been able to enjoy a night out in our city without the fear that she wouldn't come home safely.
