A 30-year-old “innocent bystander” who died after she was shot outside a Sheffield bar has been named.Mother-of-one Shanice Brookes has been described as an “amazing mum” who would “light up every room she walked into”.Brookes was shot near the One Four One bar in West Street shortly before 2.45am on Monday, according to police detectives who said “she was simply an innocent bystander”.On Wednesday, Ms Brookes’ family released a statement which said she lived in Sheffield where she worked for a local charity and was in the process of completing a university degree.Her family said: “She could light up every room she walked into with her infectious laugh, beautiful soul and magical aura.Shanice Brookes was shot dead on Monday outside a Sheffield bar (PA)“Shanice made people feel loved, safe and valued simply by being herself.“She was truly one of a kind and she will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know and love her.”The police confirmed on Monday that three people had been arrested on suspicion of murder following the shooting.One man, 30, and the woman, 32, were arrested near Stockport in Greater Manchester during the early hours of Monday morning, while the second man, 30, was arrested in Sheffield, according to the force.Assistant Chief Constable Colin McFarlane said: “This is a devastating incident which has resulted in the death of a young woman while on a night out during the bank holiday weekend in Sheffield.“First and foremost, our thoughts are with her family and everyone who knew and loved her.”He added: “Our officers have been working extremely hard to piece together the events surrounding the shooting.“While our investigation is in its early stages, we will continue to have a significant presence at the scene in the area today and in the coming days.“Bank holidays are one of the busiest times of the year, and we know that there were people in the area around West Street and Eldon Street who saw what happened or know who is responsible.“If this is you, please share what you know either directly to us, or completely anonymously via Crimestoppers.
