Emergency services were called to a shooting outside One Four One bar on the busy West Street nightlife district in Sheffield at around 2..45am on Bank Holiday Monday where they found a woman with serious injuries, who later died in hospital.Three people; a 30-year-old man and 32-year-old from Stockport, Greater Manchester, and a 30-year-old man from Sheffield, have been arrested on suspicion of murder. The shooting has left locals "scared" with one shop worker telling us they do not feel safe in the city centre.Speaking at a press conference this afternoon, South Yorkshire Police's Chief Superintendent Jamie Henderson, District Commander for Sheffield, said: "I'm here to provide an update on the investigation into the fatal shooting outside One Four One Bar in the early hours of Monday, and to tell you what we're doing to prevent and reduce further gun crime in Sheffield, to keep our communities safe."Following extensive enquiries over the last 36 hours, we believe the victim was an innocent bystander who was on a night out in our city to celebrate the Bank Holiday weekend. While formal identification has not taken place yet, we believe her to be a 30-year-old woman from Sheffield, and next of kin have been informed."Following arrests in Greater Manchester and Sheffield yesterday, two men and one woman remain in police custody for questioning. Meanwhile, a team of detectives are working around the clock to ensure anyone else who may be involved is identified and all those responsible are arrested."He added: "We need your help. We know that West Street and Eldon Street were both busy at the time of this incident, and there were people who saw what happened who haven't yet come forward."One passer-by, who didn't want to be named but was in the area at the time, told the Mirror he saw a woman being given CPR and administered on the pavement outside the bar. Police closed the road and bouncers helped usher partygoers out of the late-night bar, it is understood.One shop employee who was working further along the busy thoroughfare on the night of the incident said: "I'm scared - it doesn't feel safe. These are crazy people. It shouldn't be happening in Sheffield."A cordon which had been in place for the remainder of the Bank Holiday was lifted on Tuesday, though uniformed police remained parked across the road from the venue.South Yorkshire’s Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime, Kilvinder Vigurs, said that despite a string of high-profile shootings, statistics showed a "significant decline" in gun crime incidents in Sheffield, having fallen from 273 to 168 in the 12 months up to June 2025.She said: "I am deeply saddened by the death of a woman following the incident on West Street, and my heartfelt thoughts are with her family, friends and everyone affected by this tragic loss.Article continues below"While we have seen a significant decline in gun crime, this horrific incident demonstrates the horrors, no matter how rare.
