The force said officers found "evidence consistent with a firearms discharge" and that two men and a woman were arrested in connection with the incident.One man and the woman were arrested near Stockport in Greater Manchester early on Monday morning, while the second man was detained in Sheffield. They remain in custody for questioning.Police said in an update on Monday afternoon that a murder investigation has been launched following the incident. While formal identification has yet to take place, the victim’s family have been informed, they added.Assistant Chief Constable Colin McFarlane said: "This is a devastating incident which has resulted in the death of a young woman while on a night out during the bank holiday weekend in Sheffield."First and foremost, our thoughts are with her family and everyone who knew and loved her. Eldon Street, Westhill Lane and part of Orange Street are also closed. Drivers are being urged to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.Tram and bus services into the city have been affected, with trams unable to operate between Cathedral and Middlewood or Malin Bridge until further notice. "Tickets acceptance has been agreed with both First and Stagecoach through the disrupted area," Supertram said in a post on X.Anyone with information is asked to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101 or via an online form on the force's website, quoting incident number 135 of May 25.
