A cluster of gastroenteritis cases at Attikon University Hospital in Athens is showing signs of easing, with only five new infections recorded over a four-day period.

The cases, linked to a norovirus outbreak, were reported between Monday and Thursday, according to the hospital’s Infection Control Committee and administration. All affected patients were immediately isolated and are now asymptomatic.

The hospital said it continues to enforce enhanced infection-control measures introduced on Wednesday and is maintaining daily epidemiological monitoring. It added that, based on current data, there is no cause for concern and that hospital operations are continuing normally and safely.

Earlier assessments had identified more than 50 cases in total, including at least 38 among healthcare workers, with the remainder involving patients and visitors. The outbreak is believed to have begun around May 21 and intensified during a recent on-call duty period.
