The Federal High Court of Nigeria has announced that registries across all its divisions will now operate on weekends and public holidays for the filing of pre-election matters.

The notice, issued on Thursday and signed by the Chief Registrar of the court, Yahaya Shafa, said the measure was introduced to address the strict timelines associated with pre-election litigation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The court explained that the decision became necessary in view of the constitutional and statutory time limits guiding the filing and determination of pre-election disputes.
