The incident led to the temporary removal of a couchette carriage.
A passenger on an overnight train between Slovakia and Prague says he was bitten repeatedly by bedbugs during the journey, prompting the operator to withdraw the carriage from service as a precaution.
Andrej, a frequent rail traveller from Humenné, said he suffered 27 bites after travelling in a couchette carriage on a night service to the Czech capital and back, according to Korzár.
“Unpleasant, painful, unsightly – a souvenir for two weeks,” he said. “In the 21st century, on a train, it feels incomprehensible. I’ve completely lost the desire to travel in couchette carriages.”
He said he booked couchettes in the same carriage for both journeys, travelling in different compartments. It was only later, after persistent itching developed, that he realised he had probably been bitten by bedbugs.
