Sowore accused Nigeria’s political elite of hijacking public resources and using them for personal luxury while millions remain homeless and impoverished.
Human rights activist and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has promised sweeping reforms in Nigeria’s housing and labour sectors, including a N500,000 minimum wage for workers and the construction of one million public homes across the country if elected president in 2027.
In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, May 28, 2026, Sowore declared that his administration would dismantle what he described as exploitative labour practices and elitist housing policies that he said have impoverished ordinary Nigerians.
“Under the Sowore administration, Nigeria will return fully to mass public housing — but this time, there will be no discriminatory “low-income housing” that segregates the poor and working class,” he said.
“We will build mixed-income housing estates with green spaces, schools, malls, theatres, clinics, playgrounds, transport access, and community facilities built into them.”
