Sowore made the declaration while unveiling an ambitious education policy proposal that his government will implement if he is elected Nigerian President in the 2027 general elections, noting that his administration will provide Nigerians free education from primary school to the university level.

Human rights activist and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has declared that parents or guardians who deliberately deny children access to education should face criminal sanctions.

Sowore made the declaration while unveiling an ambitious education policy proposal that his government will implement if he is elected Nigerian President in the 2027 general elections, noting that his administration will provide Nigerians free education from primary school to the university level.

In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, May 29, 2026, Sowore said education must no longer be treated as a privilege reserved for a few Nigerians but as a fundamental right guaranteed to every child.

According to him, his administration will pursue mass literacy through a blend of physical and virtual learning systems aimed at ensuring equal access to education across the country.
