The group also condemned the gruesome beheading of a Mathematics teacher, Michael Oyedokun, who was among those kidnapped by bandits during coordinated attacks on three schools in the area.

The Socialist Labour movement has called on organised labour across Nigeria, especially the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) at both national and Oyo State levels, to immediately begin daily peaceful mass protests to compel the Federal Government and Oyo State Government to rescue dozens of abducted teachers and students in Oriire Local Government Area of the state.

The group also condemned the gruesome beheading of a Mathematics teacher, Michael Oyedokun, who was among those kidnapped by bandits during coordinated attacks on three schools in the area.

In a statement signed by its General Secretary, Comrade Biodun Olamosu, Socialist Labour said labour unions and civil society groups must rise against worsening insecurity and what it described as the criminal neglect of ordinary Nigerians by the political ruling class.

According to the statement, about 50 persons, including teachers and students, were abducted from three schools located in Esinele, Alawusa and Yewota communities in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State during attacks carried out earlier in May.
