SaharaReporters earlier reported that the prolonged non‑payment of salaries to Omotoso sparked widespread concern within Nigeria’s medical community.
The authorities at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) have paid the withheld salaries of a Senior Medical Officer in the Accident and Emergency Department, Dr. Babatunde Omotoso.
SaharaReporters earlier reported that the hospital management failed to pay Omotoso’s salary for five months over his participation in a National Association of Resident Doctors’ (NARD) strike.
The hospital management subsequently failed to pay his salary from December 2025 through April 2026. SaharaReporters also learned that, as of early May, there were fears the salary for the current month would likewise go unpaid.
However, sources familiar with the development told SaharaReporters that following the publication exposing the issue, Omotoso’s withheld salaries, including that of May, were eventually paid.
