A 35-year-old woman was murdered in Thiruverkadu on Thursday (May 28, 2026). One person has been arrested.According to officials from the Avadi Police Commissionerate, the deceased, Kalaibhavani, had recently moved into a newly constructed house in the Samira Township area and had been living alone.After hearing her calls for help, nearby residents rushed to her house and found her lying in a pool of blood.The suspect, identified as Murugan, who ran an ironing shop in the locality, attempted to flee by climbing onto the terrace. Officials said he fell during the escape attempt and sustained serious injuries before being apprehended by the Thiruverkadu police.According to the preliminary investigation, police suspect that Kalaibhavani and Murugan had been in a relationship, but tensions arose after she moved into the new house. Investigators said an argument escalated, following which Murugan allegedly murdered her.Her body was later sent to Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination.
