A private tourist bus hit a railing on the national highway and overturned near Chintareddypalem in Nellore in the early hours of Thursday (May 28, 2026). Of the 43 people travelling in the bus, 16 were hurt, including three seriously.According to the Nellore North traffic police, 39 members of a group and their relatives were travelling from Gudipadu village in Pedapadu mandal of Eluru district to the Velankanni Mata Church. Two drivers and two cooks were also in the bus.The bus rammed the highway railing, which is 2.5 feet high, and overturned near Chintareddypalem Cross Road at 3.10 a.m. Of those hurt, 13 had minor injuries, two had fractures, and a boy had a head injury. The police said the accident was due to the driver’s negligence.The injured were admitted to Medicover Hospital and are being treated. As the driver was also injured, the police could not question him. His blood samples were taken to find out whether he was driving in an inebriated condition. The investigation is on.
