Six persons were injured in two different road accidents reported in SPSR Nellore district on Saturday (October 11, 2025). According to the sources, a private travel bus met with an accident on the highway near Kovur during the early hours. The bus driver and four passengers were injured in this mishap.
Based on the information from the locals, Kovur police officials have immediately reached the spot and shifted the injured persons to the Government General Hospital (GGH) in Nellore.
Police informed that the bus belonged to Sri Navin Travels, which hit the divider on NH-16 and overturned. A bus was coming from Bhubaneswar to Bengaluru, and it had 46 passengers. Though the driver said that a container vehicle stopped suddenly in front of the bus, the passengers alleged that the driver’s drowsiness was the cause of the accident.
The police officials have observed the CCTV footage and found no container vehicle ahead of the bus. They too confirmed the negligence of the bus driver could be the reason behind the accident.
Another major accident happened at the newly constructed Penna Bridge on the highway in Nellore. A truck lost control and hit a car at high speed. Fortunately, there was no loss of life in this accident as well. However, the car was partially damaged and the driver was injured.
