The presentation ceremony
The Federal Government has lauded the Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron, in Akwa Ibom State, over its global certification by the Standards Organisation of Nigeria, pledging to continue to support initiatives that strengthen institutional standards and promote competitiveness.
The academy on Tuesday gained global recognition with the official presentation of the integrated management system certification: ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 21001:2025.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony at the academy’s auditorium, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, described the feat as not merely procedural, but a demonstration of the Academy’s commitment to excellence, quality assurance and environmental sustainability.
Represented by a deputy director in the ministry, Mr John Ogwuche, Oyetola said the certification is a reflection of the institution’s adherence to internationally recognised best practices and a strong culture of continuous improvement, accountability and operational efficiency.
