With the World Cup descending on several cities across North America in two weeks, travel restrictions caused by recent Ebola outbreaks might be premature, according to several public health experts — even as the virus’s risk to Canadians remains extremely low.
On Tuesday, the Public Health Agency of Canada introduced temporary border measures on travellers from the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan and Uganda. These include a mandatory 21-day self-isolation period for travellers, and a suspension of applications from those countries and pause on entry by residents of the three countries.
