Ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the governments of the United States, Canada and Mexico have announced plans to implement aligned public health travel measures for individuals arriving from African regions considered to be at the highest risk of Ebola transmission.

The announcement, made in a joint statement released on Thursday comes as the three North American nations intensify preparations for the global football tournament, which is expected to attract millions of visitors, athletes, fans and tourists from across the world.
