The Centre Against Injustice and Domestic Violence (CAIDOV) has called for the immediate and unconditional release of children currently being held in captivity across different parts of Nigeria as the country marks the 2026 Children’s Day celebration.
The organization made the call in a statement issued on Wednesday to commemorate the annual Children’s Day celebration, urging authorities and stakeholders to take urgent steps to rescue and protect children trapped in kidnappings, armed conflicts, and other forms of criminal activities nationwide.
In the statement signed by the Executive Director of CAIDOV, Gbenga Soloki, the organization joined millions of Nigerians and the international community in celebrating children while also drawing attention to the worsening insecurity affecting minors across the country.
CAIDOV described Nigerian children as symbols of hope, innocence, and the future of the nation, stressing that every child deserves to grow up in a safe, peaceful, and violence-free environment.
